Today I’ve Integrated…
DON’T TREAT YOUR COMMITMENTS LIKE AN OPTION
If doing something you need to do is difficult because your lack of motivation is stronger than your willpower to execute, then treat it as a commitment and not as an option. The moment you decide what you’re doing is a commitment, your approach to treating it like it’s optional is removed.
Commitment is getting it done regardless of how you feel, rather than getting it done depending on how you feel.
Commitment is creating the time to do it no matter how busy you are, rather than doing it when the timing is convenient.
Commitment is executing no matter what the external conditions are, rather than executing if the conditions are perfect.
The work that needs doing doesn’t care about your feelings. It just needs to be done. And if you’re disciplined enough to do it regardless of how you feel, then motivation becomes irrelevant. To follow-through on your commitments is about learning to be okay with taking action regardless if you have the motivation to do it.
